My experience with research

When I heard the words "research", "subject", or "study" the first thing that always comes to mind is a place in my past that I'm not particularly proud of.  Let's just say that many years ago when I began my undergrad studies I was a "research subject" for a medical "study" that resulted in enough money to cover my first year of tuition.  My mother, and others who love me have since convinced me to turn to hard work and/or borrowing in order to stay in school, rather than being poked and prodded.  In truth, working as a pharmaceutical test subject is not as scary and dangerous as it sounds but, those of us who've been there like to encourage the fear and mystique associated with it.  This ensures that, should we ever need to return to our lives as guinea pigs, the pool of other applicants will still be small and the money will still be substantial.  More on methods to come...
